Dear Parents and Guardians,

Yesterday, the Government of Ontario announced that the provincial Stay at Home order and school closures would be extended to June 2, 2021. This decision was made based on the advice of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health - Click here to read the news release.

Vaccinations for Students Ages 12-17

Starting May 31, 2021, students 12-17 years of age in Ontario and their family members/caregivers will be eligible to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. In addition to what is already in place, special clinics targeted at providing vaccinations for this group will be established throughout the province during the weeks of June 14 and June 21, 2021. The Government of Ontario has indicated that School Boards will work with Public Health Departments to arrange for administration of the second dose of the vaccine for this group by the end of August 2021.

Our Board will be meeting with the Durham Region Health Department next week to clarify details and will share information in the coming weeks once a plan has been finalized.

We are very pleased with this news and hopeful that it will contribute to as normal a return to school in September as possible. May the love of God and the power of prayer during the Month of Mary bring a sense of peace to you and your family.

Yours in Faith,

Tracy Barill
Director of Education
